Mulberry Academy St Leonards is governed by the Mulberry Schools Trust. The Local Governing Body (LGB) is responsible for the oversight of the school and for the implementation of the Mulberry School Trust’s policies and strategy. You can read more about the Mulberry Schools Trust, its Board of Trustees, its policies and the shared work between schools by following the links at the end of this page.

The Trust’s Board of Trustees is ultimately responsible for the educational and financial performance of all of the academies in the trust. The Trustees are the statutory Governors of each academy and the company directors and charitable Trustees of the Mulberry Schools Trust.

Further information about the Mulberry Schools Trust’s governance arrangements, including its Board of Trustees, Scheme of Delegation, Articles of Association and Funding Agreement, are available on the Trust’s website.

The Board of Trustees is supported in fulfilling its responsibilities by a series of committees, including a Local Governing Body for each academy.

I am a retired Headteacher who worked in all phases of state schools. We moved to Hastings 10 years ago from the Slough area. My main interests are most sports, sadly more watching than playing nowadays.

Since May 2021 It has been a pleasure to lead across the amazing St Leonards and Burgess Hill Academies. I have been at Burgess Hill Since 2016. I am incredibly proud of students as staff as the school has grown from 750 to 1100. I have worked in The Trust since it began and I was a Vice Principal and Principal at The St Leonards Academy. It has been great to return! I began my career in London as a drama teacher moving into a head of year role and then into senior leadership.

Applying to become a Governor is easy. The Mulberry Schools Trust is a family of infant, primary and secondary schools in Sussex all supporting each other, and our pupils, to learn, achieve and succeed in beyond school. Our Academies support each other to improve and have a positive impact on their local communities. Governors play an important part in this.
